Short Course

“An Introduction to Adaptive Optics”

We are pleased to offer a special short course given by Professor Robert K Tyson, on Monday 11th June, 14:00 to 17:30 (including a coffee break). 

The topics covered will include: 

  • Adaptive optics systems and applications
  • Wavefront sensors
  • Wavefront sources, including laser guide stars
  • Wavefront correctors, including deformable mirrors
  • Closed-loop control systems
  • Practical engineering problems and solutions

This is an introductory course, suitable for people who are new to adaptive optics or more experienced people wishing to get a broad overview of the whole subject. 

We are very fortunate to have Professor Tyson as course lecturer.   He is most well-known to the AO community through his books on Adaptive Optics.  He is also Director of the Optics Graduate Program at UNC, Charlotte. 

The course fee is €100 and includes a paper copy of the viewgraphs and the coffee break.   Please sign up when registering for the conference.
