PhD Research Studentships
At least two PhD research studentships are currently available in the Applied Optics Group. We have approximately 40 researchers and are recognised for our research in imaging and adaptive optics. The likely areas of research for the PhD projects are computational imaging, the eye and vision, and optical design. More information can be found here.
If you are interested in joining the group as a PhD student, please send your CV and a statement of research interests to c.dainty@nuigalway.ie
Summer Internships
Each year we recruit 2-3 PhD students into the group. The normal recruitment time is January to April for entry in September, but there is flexibility on the starting time of year. We expect eligible students to apply for funding from IRCSET. We also normally have other funding sources for EU students and the stipend rate (in 2007) is approximately €16K per annum (plus fees), paid as a tax-free scholarship.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellows
From time to time we have post-doc positions available for outstanding researchers. Contact: c.dainty@nuigalway.ie
Summer Internships
In the period 2007 to 2009, most summer internships will be handled through the lightSCHOOL - our programme for senior-cycle, post-primary students: these internships last 10 weeks and start in early June.
Occasionally we take students for longer periods, such as students doing a six-month project as part of their Diploma studies (Germany) or Engineering School Degree (France). Contact: c.dainty@nuigalway.ie
