*The Optics and Photonics Network was formed in 2005 and held its first one-day meeting, attended by more than 110 researchers, at TCD in August 2005. A second one-day meeting, focused on “Outreach and Enterprise” was held in March 2006 and a major conference “Photonics Ireland 2007” was held in September 2007, with approximately 180 attendees and 140 scientific papers. Photonics Ireland 2009 was held in Kinsale, Cork and attracted more than 250 attendees. Photonics Ireland 2011 was held in Malahide, near Dublin.
The purpose of this informally organized Network is to bring together research students, post-docs, senior researchers and industry in the photonics sector in Ireland.
